Stylish Spoken English Words (BLENDS)

Many of you might be familiar with such words as emoticon, blog, pulsar, WI-FI and so on. But have you ever thought how these comparatively younger English words crept into the language? Today let's have a look at some of such most common words. Widely known as PORTMANTEAU WORDS, they are invented by combining the beginning of one word and the end of another word. They are also known as BLENDS. They're fast becoming very common in day-to-day spoken as well as written English. Be the first among your friends to learn them!

WORKAHOLIC= Work+Alcoholic.

WIKIPEDIA= Wik+Encyclopedia.

ADERTAINMENT=Advertisement+Entertainment.

BLOG= Web+Log.

CAMCODER= Camera+Recorder.

CINEPLEX= Cinema+Complex.

FORTNIGHT= Fourteen+Nights.

HINGLISH= Hindi+English.

PULSAR= Pulsating+Star.
