GET THE FEEL OF SOMETHING= to be familiar with sth. (I haven't GOT THE FEEL OF the brakes in this car).

FEELINGLY= with very strong emotions. (He spoke FEELINGLY about his dead father).

FEEL SOMEBODY UP= to touch sb sexually, especially when they don't want you to. (The passengers beat him when he tried to FEEL A GIRL UP in the bus).

FEEL THE PINCH= to not have enough money. (After losing the job, I started FEELING THE PINCH).

GIVE/PAY HEED TO SOMEBODY/SOMETHING= to pay careful attention to somebody's warning/advice.(PLEASE PAY HEED TO his warning if you don't want to endanger youself).

COMPLY= to obay a rule/an order etc. (They refused to COMPLY with the UN resolution).

ABIDE BY= to accept and act according to a law, an agreement etc. (You have to ABIDE by the rules of our club).

WALK THE CHALK LINE= obey completely & fearfully. (My dad used to make me WALK THE CHALK LINE in my childhood).

KOWTOW= to show somebody in authority too much respect and be too willing to obey them or be ready to do anything for them. (Sam gets promotion because he always KOWTOWS the boss. I'm not ready for that).

As requested by many of you over the phone, I am posting a few pics to make the meanings of certain words clearer. Remember each pic represents the word given just above them.

SHACK= a small improperly constructed house of poor people often built in an illegal area. (The authorities demolished all the SHACKS located just near the central railway station.

FAMILIAR SOUNDS FROM YOUR BODY.

PUKE= to vomit. (The baby PUKED all over me this morning). Synonym: BARF.

SLURP= to make a loud noice while you are drinking something hot. (Everyone looked at her when she SLURPED her tea).

BELCH= to let air come up noisily from your stomach and out through your mouth. (After having the delicious dinner, he BELCHED loudly).

HAVE BUTTERFLIES IN YOUR STOMACH= to have a nervous feeling in your stomach before doing sth important. ( I always HAVE BUTTERFLIES IN MY STOMACH just before facing an interview).

HICCUP= a sharp, repeated uncontrollable sound made in the throat.(I ate so quickly and got HICCUPS).

SNORE= to breathe noisely through your nose and mouth while you are asleep. (I could hear Harry SNORING in the next room).

SNEEZE= to have air come suddenly through your nose and mouth in a way that you can't control, for example because you have cold. (I've been SNEEZING all morning).

FART= to let air from the bowels come out through the backside of your body. (We couldn't help laughing when he FARTED loudly during the discussion!!).

A FEW STYLISH WORDS FOR YOU

BUSYBODY= a person who is too interested in what others are doing. (I hate John who is an interfering old BUSYBODY).

NOSY PARKER= a person who is too interested in other people's affairs. (Don't be a NOSY PARKER - it's none of your business).

PAPARAZZO= a photographer who follows famous people around in order to get spicy photographs to sell to a newspaper. (The actress died in an accident while trying to escape from a PAPARAZZO)

SPOILSPORT= a person who spoils other people's enjoyment, for example by not taking part in an activity or by behaving in a stupid way. (Jim is an incorrigible SPOILSPORT that no one likes his presence).

FLATTERER= a person who says nice things about you in order to get any favour from you. (Don't be fooled by that flatterer).

CON ARTIST= a person who regularly cheats others. (Stay away from him - he's a real CON ARTIST)

TATTLE= tell somebody, especially somebody in authority about something bad that somebody else has done.

BATH and BATHE

When you wash yourself, you can say that you BATH (British English) or BATHE (American English)
Example: "Do you BATH/BATHE daily?"

Stylish Spoken English Words (BLENDS)

Many of you might be familiar with such words as emoticon, blog, pulsar, WI-FI and so on. But have you ever thought how these comparatively younger English words crept into the language? Today let's have a look at some of such most common words. Widely known as PORTMANTEAU WORDS, they are invented by combining the beginning of one word and the end of another word.
